Here’s how the school breaks are scheduled from June through September

The school year is coming to an end, the final exams are over, and excitement for summer vacation is building.

While some schools in the DACH region begin their summer break as early as June, in other regions the summer break doesn’t start until July or August. As a result, the start of summer break is spread out over several weeks—and with it, on the one hand, travel traffic and, on the other, demand for tour buses.

It’s worth taking a quick look

After all, if you know when school breaks are in each federal state or canton, you can better plan trips, project weeks, class trips, and field trips for the end or start of the school year.

To help you stay on top of things, we’ve updated the 2026 summer vacation dates: here’s a brief summary of the 2027 summer vacations for Austria, Germany, and Switzerland.
